![Carlsbad Marathon 2008 : Jesse ran his first road race today. Instead of my method, which would be to start with a 5k, then do a 10k, and then a half marathon etc., he went all out and started with a marathon. [For the record, I have done 5 km and 10 km races... would like to get up to a half marathon some day.] The race was in Carlsbad, and I went up there with him to do the driving and to cheer him on. I'll give away the ending--he finished in about 4 h 45 minutes, and even increased his pace after the 22 mile split and picked up extra speed heading towards the finish line. He didn't walk any of it. Awesome! He did say at the end that he wouldn't have been able to run even one more mile.
